Provincial Pakistani Elders & Candidates Ban Women from Voting.

"Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others & because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; & (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, & leave them alone in the sleeping-places & beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great." So Allah the primitive pagan moon god tells his benighted believers, in verse 4:34 of the most disgusting book ever pulled out of any lice-ridden charlatan's backside, the Koran.

This is why women are second class citizens all over the Islamic world, the backward & ignorant Islamic world. Women are little more than chattel in the moral anus of planet Earth &, if the devout Muslims got their way, women wouldn't have the vote anywhere. As it is, only yokels in the backwaters of Pakistan can express their worldview properly, as reported by Dawn News today (hat-tip to The Religion Of Peace):

Women barred from voting in Sangla by-polls

Elders and poll contestants barred women from voting in Koz Kana and Sangrai village councils here during the local government by-elections in Shangla district on Wednesday.

According to locals, notables of the area and contesters unanimously decided not to allow women to vote in the by-polls as they believed that women participation in elections was against their traditions and norms.

Women presiding officers remained present at the polling stations in both the union councils but no woman came to vote.

However, the by-polls were held peacefully in two village councils. According to unofficial results, Mohammad-i-Room and Liaqat Ali won their seats. The slots had fallen vacant after elected councillors took government jobs.

District election officer Sardar Saidur Rehman confirmed the ban imposed by the elders and contestants. He claimed that the ECP was trying to create awareness among the people about the importance of vote, particularly for women, but the local elders, and even contestants, did not cooperate.
