Erdogan's Islamic Narcissism Proving Contagious in Germany.

As frequently observed on this site (2, 3, 4, 5, 6,) the president of Turkey displays psychological traits one would not regard as admirable in someone encountered in daily life, let alone in the head of state of a regional power & member of NATO. For reasons best explained by the Danish criminal psychologist, Nicolai Sennels, Recep Tayyip Erdogan exhibits a childish intolerance of ridicule & dissent, this being a typical characteristic of the unacculturated Muslim male.

This is leading to relentless attacks upon public discourse in Turkey & the rolling back of civil liberties there. This is despicable enough, but who would have thought that a European country would entertain such tyranny to be exerted by its own legal system, let alone a country which, due to its own history of tyranny & suppression, would be dedicated to maintaining the principles of the freedom of speech & the appearance thereof?

Step forward Angela Merkel who has, in recent months, dazzled the world with her solid adherence to principle & her political acumen. She has now agreed, in principle, to a native German being prosecuted in Germany for something he said about Erdogan on German television, as reported by RT News today (hat-tip to Tommy Robinson @TRobinsonNewEra):

As a result, the federal government in regard to this incident, satisfies the request," Merkel told reporters at the Chancellery in Berlin. "There were different opinions between the coalition partners - the conservatives and the SPD (Social Democrats)," Merkel added. The chancellor went on to stress that it "means neither a prejudgment of the person affected nor a decision about the limits of freedom of art, the press and opinion." Merkel said that the government intends to repeal the law, effective in 2018. Erdogan Merkel Boehmermann Boehmermann read the poem on Germany's ZDF television two weeks ago. Although the broadcaster withdrew the piece from its archives, it said that no laws were broken. However, Boehmermann warned ahead of time that the reading would breach regulation on insulting foreign leaders. The Turkish government says the poem accused Erdogan of "repressing minorities, kicking Kurds, and slapping Christians while watching child porn."

Just for the record, here is the poem that has caused so much trouble, entitled Schmähkritik or Abusive Criticism. It's not exactly Schiller & one wonders whether the political giants now embroiled in the scandal now regret giving it such prominence.
