Death Sentence for 'The Butcher of Mirpur' Another Jamaat-e-Islami War Criminal in Bangladesh.

Yet another Islamic 'holy man' has been given the death penalty in Bangladesh, having been convicted of war crimes in connection with the Bengal Genocide in 1971. The thing is, he was only given a life sentence back in February but, having the steadfast knowledge that Allah was on his side & that he was doing the work of The Lord when he was having all those people lined up in ditches & shot for being Hindu or just too well qualified by half, he thought he'd appeal &, oh, very dear, the court went & increased his sentence.

What, after all, is greater than a life sentence? A death sentence. Stop laughing & read this report from AsiaNews on Tuesday (hat-tip to The Religion of Peace):

Abdul Quader Mollah, the 'butcher' of Mirpur, sentenced to death

He is one of the leaders of the Islamist party, this according to the Supreme Court, which upheld his conviction for crimes against humanity. Last February, an international war tribunal had sentenced him to life imprisonment, a ruling Mollah had appealed.

The Supreme Court of Bangladesh sentenced to death Abdul Quader Mollah, deputy secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami (the first Islamic party in the country), for crimes against humanity committed during Bangladesh's war of liberation from Pakistan in 1971.

When verdict was read, many of his supporters staged violent protests in Chittagong. In the ensuing clashes, two policemen were injured. Since then, tensions continue to run high.

Mollah, 65, is accused of having planned a series of executions, including the massacre of Mirpur (a Dhaka district), which earned him the nickname of koshai, the "butcher".

An international tribunal had sentenced him to life imprisonment on the same charges last February.

Mollah challenged the verdict in appeal to the Supreme Court, which, however, upheld the conviction and increased the sentence.

His sentence seven months ago sparked anger among supporters of the Islamist party. This resulted in violent protests that intensified after the 'international' war tribunal set up by the ruling party Awami League sentenced to death other Jamaat leaders.

Since then, party militants have also organised general strikes (hartal) on a semi-regular basis, which often degenerate into vandalism and clashes with the police.

You can see why they're angry, can't you? After all, the Koran tells them that they are the best of the nations raised up for men (3:110), & that they must wipe the infidels out to the last (8:7), so how dare anyone try to punish their leader for striving in the way if Allah (9:88)?

This is a small step in the immense task of getting it into the heads of Muslims that Allah is not on their side, how could he be? 'He' is a rock, a meteorite, purchased by Luhay, one if Mohammed's ancestors, for a skin of wine & a lute so that the Quraysh tribe prance around it in their pagan rituals. That is all it is. That is all that Muslims have been killing for over the course of 14 centuries.
